Kitchen Inspirations. December edition.

I’ve been cooking and baking stuff recently, for some reason I have not been taking pictures as much as I usually do. Yet I want to share those that I have since it makes me happy.

Have you cooked something recently? What was it? Did you take pictures of your creations?

Bread with jalapenos and honey, good and spicy

Broccoli and tofu with gomasio (sesame seeds)

Cranberry sauce with oranges and cognac

Chinese cabbage, corn and sweet peppers.

In my latest version of borsht i had mushrooms, beans, polish kielbasa, mustard, celery, Chinese cabbage and horseradish. It turned out very tasty. It was served with jalapeno honey bread and sour cream. Now I am thinking of what to make for a Christmas meal? I would like something savory.

What are your favorite Christmas dishes?

Why Make Art?

I’m posting this as an inspiration, I would love to finish my knitting project and paint eggs. As for drawing I want to draw more furniture, sofa is the next piece I have in mind. So many little things!

As for other art projects , I want to write more poetry and take more nature photos. Japanese gardens in Portland is a great place to check out if you are looking for great view. I only visited last year and it was not the right time to go.

  • What are you working on this week? I would like to hear about your art projects, big and small.
  • What makes you do art?
  • What kind of art are you into?
  • Where do you draw inspiration? Inspiration is sometimes hard to find, I find it only in other people’s thoughts and ideas. I try to hang out with inspiring folks, it makes my life better.

Be Bold

Fortune favors the brave. – To my fellow writers / bloggers.

Poem by me.

How bold do I want you to be?

Why do you think they should agree?

You know your destination.

I need to make a revelation:

If you are brave and daring,

If you are fast and scaring

It is a bit suspicious,

You come across ambitious.

My friend, please don’t be shy,

My man, the world is like a pie,

You eat it or you don’t.

No time to wait, or change the font…

Be bold and try your best again

I want to see your work, amen

Equinox

mandalaThe days are getting shorter, and the nights longer. Harvest moon and Friday the 13th are gone, so it’s time to think about coming fall.

Autumnal equinox is like a Rubicon that we pass to realize how much is done and how much is still there untouched. Thinking about Thanksgiving and Christmas makes me happy and sad. Time flies meaning we are not getting younger, which is kind of an ambiguous thing, there are certain pros and cons in the game of Life, the more you play the better you get at it.

It’s definitely an adventure any way you look at it, I would love to get the most out of it, don’t you? My plants are thriving after repotting, it makes me think of moving to a new place because it seems like a second chance or something that helps you start anew without ever looking back. Nature gives us so many lessons when we are ready to learn. Every winter it sort of dies and every spring life starts feasting for a short while before it hibernates back. The wheel of life is an amazing metaphor for it, if only we could grasp it better. I also like to think of mandalas to help myself visualize how all the pieces of the puzzle come together.

Fall is not only the time for reflections and meditation, but also creativity and inspiration outlet. Making things and creating your own reality is what I would like us all to do, what good does it make to just sit around and wait for the life to happen? Action is essential even if it seems insignificant and fruitless, it’s better to try and fail than never even attempt anything at all. It’s up to you to make your life heaven or hell…

Reading

Summer reading is about to begin. What are you reading these days? I’m going through American lit classics including modern writers such as Gloria Whelan and Patricia McCormick. I recently discovered the book Speak by L. Anderson. All of them are young adult editions, this is what I need to know for my job. But personally I prefer books on philosophy, psychology, and therapy. I am looking for recommendations if you have anything specific on your mind. The book world is so big and diverse that it’s always helpful to learn about new publishings or old overlooked items. This spring is so cold and rainy that all I can think of is staying at home with a cup of tea and a good book. It is an easy way to travel too. Imagination is probably the greatest gift for us, humans. And I know it helps us survive more than anything else. Writing is one of those creative outlets we use to stay alive. What do you like to write about? Is it a passion of yours or just a pastime? I was always curious about things that inspire others to write, or the most productive times of the day or week. Inspiration is hard to define, sometimes it’s so elusive and unpredictable. I wish I knew the magic formula…
